The way a team plays as a whole determines its success.

Welcome, Inspired Traveler!
Play ball!!!! That’s the cry that comes from the American League, the National League and Little League. It is echoed through fields and parks across the country at this time of year and it immediately brings to mind great sport, great fun and an all-American tradition. For leaders, it also brings to mind something else — the impact that having a well-tuned, in-sync, fully engaged team can have on results.
When the team wins, we clap, we shout, we jump for joy and we celebrate. When the team is not so fortunate, we all claim to know why — and almost all of our Monday morning game analysis comes down to one fact — team work. The most gifted “star” cannot save a dysfunctional team.
Team work is the subject of books, the focus of meetings, the topic of workshops and can usually be found in one form or another in the daily news. But are we talking, reading and learning about it in a way that is actionable? What are we doing, as leaders, to instill a sense of Team Focused Excellence in those we serve? Because if we don’t connect the dots between team work and results, well, we dropped the ball (sorry!).
So, before you go back into the game of work and/or life, ask these questions:
Then, ask each member of the team to reflect and answer the same questions. For only by looking within, can we then come together and win the game. It depends on all the players. Always has, always will. And when you succeed, popcorn and peanuts for everyone!
