Inspirational Infusion

I have no special gift.
I am only passionately curious.

Greetings, Inspired Travelers!

Welcome to Spring and the time of new beginnings. Luckily for us, there are many points of new beginnings in the calendar year. We just have to claim them as such and let the unfolding begin! As a leader, you are the initiator, the connector, the advisor, the guide and the monitor of all new beginnings that must be undertaken by your team or department. And kicking off the program or initiative can make or break it. We have one shot out of the gate and all will depend upon how the launch is executed.

As with any group project, the initial collaboration and exchange of ideas is critical in developing consensus. Too many times, plans are dictated like orders and employees feel as if their ideas and thoughts have no value. So — I invite you to be curious about how your group sees your new venture. Ask great questions! Welcome new thoughts. Here are some to get you started:

What would you hope to accomplish with the project?
How will the results affect your professional lives?
How will the results affect your personal lives?
How do you feel about the proposed plan?
How will we measure the success six months down the road?

Too many times, the ideas and contributions of team members are only given lip service and — no surprise — they know it! And it does not make them happy — or eager to jump onboard.

So, next time, gather them around the table, invite inquiry and use your deep listening skills to hear what is really on their minds. Most groups will come up with a great plan — if we give them the chance. Be guided by curiosity rather than control. In that way, everyone learns!

Be Magnificent! Have an Inspirational Day!

At InspirationInProgress we believe in inquiry before advocacy and in the curiosity that opens minds, hearts and opportunities. Give us a call today … we’ve got some questions for you! 215 260 1611 or and let us know if you will be at the ASTD Conference — we’d love to meet up with you!
