When people feel there is a purpose and that they’re needed,
there’s not much else to do except let them do the work.

Welcome, Inspired Traveler!

Our emotions are contagious and we use common phrases to communicate this to others: “One bad apple spoils the whole bunch,” or “Her smile lights up the room.” But — when we make hiring decisions or form teams to complete projects, do we take this into consideration with the seriousness that it deserves? My experience says, unfortunately, no.

I have been working with a client to help them update their on-boarding process and redesign their orientation in an effort to focus more on corporate culture and less on material that can be learned in a handbook. And, in many orientation sessions and in many hiring processes, culture and human behavior take a back seat to competency and resumé; in fact, that seat is usually in the last row.

New research conducted at the University of Rochester suggests that we might spend more time paying attention to the ability to influence and inspire than simply to work experience and skill. For, if the skill and experience are impressive but a leader is unable to inspire excellence in others, the skill becomes limited. Some of us have been led by uninspired leaders and worked for organizations that drained the life out of us. We concluded very quickly that those were not companies that would link us to greatness, in spite of the experience they would provide — so we left, in search of inspiration.

So, do you count the ability to inspire purpose and meaning as critical capabilities? During the hiring process, do you search out inspirational leadership and motivational managers? We hope so; for it is much easier to squash passion and creativity than it is to ignite and nurture it, and that ability, we believe, is worth its weight in gold!

This month, we will be in California and New York
inspiring others with training sessions, coaching and keynotes.
If you are in those areas and would like to add us to your schedule give us a call.
We will be able to give you great support at a great rate!

Be Magnificent! Have an Inspirational Day!
